Chelsea is looking to build its squad ahead of next season so it can compete against teams like Manchester City and Liverpool. The club is considering signing Lorient's Star Arthur Avo,m which the management believes is a perfect fit for Chelsea.

What Happened?

Reports reaching us at Sportdinho show that Chelsea is in the race to sign Lorient midfielder Arthur Avom, among some of the top rising stars in the French League 2. According to The Sun, the 20-year-old Cameroonian caught the attention of the Blues scout. However, other Premier League clubs are also showing interest in the young star; Aston Villa and West Ham are also showing key interest in signing the Cameroonian. These Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on the performance of the young star at Lorient. Avon has been a key player for Lorient this season, which has drawn the attention of big clubs like Chelsea, West Ham, and Aston Villa. The League 2 star has shown some impressive performances in the league. he also has some great attributes, such as good vision on the pitch, attacking prowess, and great energy. So far this season, the young star has recorded 2 goals and 5 assists in 30 appearances.

What Was Said?

As it stands currently, Avom has no intention to hurriedly renew his contract at Lorient as the young player is looking elsewhere this season for better offers. Lorient is interested in having Avon on their team till 2026 with the option for another year. It looks like Avon is not interested in that and is open to moving to another club. However, there are no formal offers right now, but the reports in circulation show that the three Premier League clubs are looking to have him on board this transfer window. Chelsea is in search of a young, versatile player like Avom to bolster Enzo Maresca's squad.

The Bigger Picture

Chelsea has the intention to invest heavily in emerging talent as the club is looking to build a squad that can dominate the Premier League in the next 5 years. One thing about the Blues is that they have the habit of identifying young potential players abroad. Let's take, for example, the case of Cesare Casadei or Andrey Santos, and Arthur Avom. Looking at that, one will agree that Chelsea is looking at the longrun and not just the present/ However, with Aston Villa and West ham United showing keen interest on the young star, this transfer window is going to come with some transfer tug-of-war for all the premier league clubs showing interest on the Cameroonian.

From our own point of view or opinion, we believe that Avom is looking at the future of Lorient in the League 2. This comes as a result of Lorients relegation to League 2 and their partnership with Bournemouth, which has previously smoothed the path for player exits.

Did You Know?

Arthur Avom could follow a path similar to Dango Ouattara’s 2023 move from Lorient to Bournemouth.

Both clubs are part of the same ownership group (Ineos), and there's precedent for talent heading to the Premier League through that route. Avom, who is just 20 years old, has already played 30 league matches for Lorient this season. This alone shows that the young lad is a force in the team. His reputation keeps growing every day, and this is a good sign for potential clubs to show interest in him.

What’s Next?

With the current race on the ground for the signature of Avom, Chelsea needs to act swiftly to ensure they sign the young star ahead of Aston Villa and West Ham United. As it stands right now, Avom is weighing the available options, and we believe he will sign for any club that makes the move. The summer window is fast approaching, and Lorient is eager to sort out Avom's future.  Chelsea will likely assess where Avom fits into their long-term strategy, while Villa and West Ham could pounce if the Blues hesitate.
